Plus Size Model Tara Lynn

Tara Lynn the curvy breathtaking beauty who has captured the attention of the fashion world is one of the most well known plus size models.

In 2008 she started out doing online advertising for Nordstrom. Since then V Magazine used her in their shoot Curves Ahead in 2010 when they were celebrating 'real' women. She appeared alongside other plus sized models Candice Huffine, Kasia P, Michelle Olson and Marquita Pring.

The girls unashamedly flaunted full thighs, stomach rolls and love handles (things that would normally be airbrushed out on a high fashion magazine) whilst wearing everything from figure-hugging Agent Provocateur bodysuits to cut-out Gucci swimsuits.
In April 2010 issue of French Elle featured Tara Lynn on the cover and in a twenty-page-long editorial, for the magazine's first celebration of women who are 'ronde'.

Tara Lynn is the face of Brazilian lingerie company, Plià for their Shape Wear collection for plus sizes. She has also appeared in Glamour magazine.

  6. I just had a random thought...

First off...I'm ecstatic to see a full-figured model in today's society.

I remember though back in high school one time (back in 2002) I wore stretch jeans and pumps and the "popular" girls made fun of my choice.

  7. Alright, aside from the creep above me (that transferguru dude) I feel the same way as all of you.

I'm not slim, i'm not dainty, and i'm not fragile. I'm 5'7, 170lbs, and built like a tank instead of a porcelain figurine. I'm all muscle, and while i'm proud it makes wearing socially promoted styles nearly impossible. i found a picture of Tara by accident, but i'm so happy i did. what makes her gorgeous, is that she isn't afraid of who she is, and because of that fearlessness, and her confidence in who she is, she's far lovelier than any twig i've met or seen.

  9. @duncsmissv - I don't know where you are writing from, but she could very well be a size 20 in the UK. Their clothing sizes are smaller than in the US

  10. duncsmissv, unfortunately in this industry she is actually quite large for a plus size model. I myself am a plus size model at 5'11 and 160 lbs. I wear a size 8 dress and most plus size models are size 8-10. a "normal" sized model is a 0-2/4 at the most. I agree she is positively beautiful. The industry needs to move away from its obsession with weight. The main reason mainstream models are so unhealthily thin is so that designers don't have to worry about designing flattering garments or going through grueling fitting processes. if everyone is built the same (and like a hanger) it makes their job easier.

  15. I love this post.
Through my teenage years, I was thin. I had a tiny appetite but I was happy with my weight. Also through my teenage years, I was plagued by ‘female pains’ so severe that I would pass out. Eventually, after I turned 18, my doctor suggested contraceptives as a cost-effective solution. It worked – but over a six-month period I gained eighteen kilograms.
I find it hard to be happy with my weight now. I know what it felt like before I put on weight. Exercise, healthy eating and portion sizes seem to have no affect to the number on the scale or tape measure, even after nearly two years. However, it’s posts like these that I can look at when I’m feeling low about my weight and feel hopeful that I can be beautiful, even if I don’t manage to shed the pounds.

  16. I stumbled upon your blog and I have to say , I applaud you!!! a standing ovation!!! in a time where I have been struggling with losing my last 30 pounds to get me to 200 , I have forgotten, who I am , I have become obsessed with weight and looks , I forgot I am not that person , I always strived being proud of having kindness in my heart ,friendships that last, good morals and ethics ,and I have let my weight become over-top of it all, I have stopped enjoying my life the way I want to , because i am trying to fit into a mold that I was not made from! I lost my older sister 1 yr ago , she live for looks and the approval of men fashion and what others thought,I need to remember all the things I have accomplished, I have lost 80 pounds, I have become guardian and custodian of my two nieces, I have gotten my dream job,I am working of becoming a better person. So I stand and applaud you for showing there is more to women then a thin waist and non existent boobs.I will be following your blog and say keep up the good work! :)

  17. You are so beautiful and it's wonderful, that at a young age, you have learned to embrace your curves and beauty. I am almost 46 and have fought tooth and nail against my curves for many years. In my younger years I battled eating disorders and have been more than a little obsessed about my weight. It has only been more recently that I have embraced the way God made me, curves and all. I do strive for healthy, eating a healthy diet and working out consistently, but gone are the rail thin goals. Blessings to you!!

  18. Still wish we didn't have to say "big and beautiful" because she is by no means big. She is BEAUTIFUL. Period. Maybe our society will figure it out some day.
